With the start of the season just over a month away, and schedules due out March 15th, who match up do you think the league should select for opening night? Last years game featured College Point Clippers defeating the Queens Red Sox. Both teams went on to win their respective divisions.

Caribbean Rockies vs. Latin Flavor HANDS DOWN!!!
Might be one of the biggest rivalries of the season. 4 potential Flavor off-season pick-ups, deciding to SHUN last year's champions and begin their own team in the Carib Rockies. The Flavor begin their quest to repeat, while the Rockies begin their journey to TAKE THE FLAVOR OUT!!!
I think that would be a pretty good idea. The Flavor and the RR should go at it opening night!!

how about the Flavor vs the NYPD... No offense to the rough riders, but last year was a completely different league. This season is a whole new ball game. Plus do you really want to play the Flavor with your only two real AA pitchers still at college? Dont you want to wait till the summer to play them when your horses are availible to throw? The NYPD is the most sucessful organization to enter the NYCMBL, and I think the matchup of old vs new blood would be a great way to kickstart the AA season.
Opening day should start off by the defending champions Latin Flavor Vs.Caribbean Rockies. Ive been hearing good news about both teams during the off season and Its obvious that these two teams should match up opening day.No offense to the rule of conference teams not playing a single game and only playing double headers However, no disrespect to the Riders but no one wants to see The Flavor defeating the Riders for the fourth straight time ( Including the sweep from last year's championship series).With all the hype , new teams and new Double A league, the NYCMBL should start of this 2008 season with a bang!!!

for a team that wasnt even in the league last year the caribbean rockies sure have a lot to say (check that, they werent even a team last year.) dont get me wrong i love the confidence but youre setting yourselves up to look like a bunch of fools if you dont back up the stuff youve been saying so far. some of the new league members have reputations from other leagues that at least give them respect. rockies, you havent done anything (not to say you wont, but you havent yet) so please pipe down a bit and let your actions on the field speak for you. your enthusiasm of wanting to play on opening night is great but its tough to find a legit reason for it just bc you say "youre ready." come on, everyteam is ready! you no doubt have a talented roster but the more you talk yourselves up, the more youre setting yourselves up for ridicule if you get beat. AA is gonna be real real tough, no doubt. id be real surprised if anyone team ran away with it including the teams with the better reps. i hope you rockies dont take this as me hatin on you as i have respect for you guys and think you will be real strong.
My name is Amado Guzman and I'm one of the captains of the Caribbean Rockies. As you can see it says Anonymous because I didn't think of wasting my time on doing a username or password so I came out and said my name and who I play for unlike other peoples on here. But I just came on to say that people are making a big deal about seeing the votes for Caribbean Rockies vs. Latin Flavor. Hey that's the subject on the blog this week is the league officials want to know who people would like to see on opening night. Personally if the Caribbean Rockies end up playing on opening night against the Defending Champions Latin Flavor then so be it.
I have no problems starting off the season against last year's best. I have come to know players personally on the Latin Flavor squad and played with them in the Flordia World Series and respect them as people as well as ball players. And it will test how good my team is and how good we fair against them. And if we win we win, and if we lose we lose but one thing I know and many will agree is that "Opening Night" doesn't mean a thing for me because it's the first game of a looong season.
Also as many people may already know that since many of these blogs are anonymous other people can get on and say whatever they want to say like if they were representing the Caribbean Rockies, And if people think members of my team are not letting our actions speak on the field as one "Anonymous" member put it, I just came on here to say set things straight that only two of my fellow teammates said anything on this blog and they said one that they second the Flava vs. Rockies, and the next comment was Latin Flava vs. Rockies "no doubt about it" and that was it all the others were by some other person not even on my team.
So for the person who left the comment above from me I thank you for the respect and I just wanted to come out and clear stuff up!
Why not be smart about this, the Flava are a lock to Start on Opening Day since they were the Champs. Since so many want to face them why not the 2 weeks prior to opening day have the Rockies play the Riders and NYPD play the Clippers. Whoever wins those games would face Each other the week after and the winner playing the Champs on Opening day. That way the supposive top teams have a chance to play for what they want and thats to Face the Champs on Opening Day.
first of all... "play-in" game to play the flavor on opening night? are you crazy. Why should a meaningless game in late march play into the equation. Secondly, why is this such a big deal. Can anyone here name the two teams that played in the ESPN opener last year? DOUBT It. But 100% everyone on this page remembers who played in the world series. And thats all that matters. Bottom line, whoever the league decides to kick off the season, will kick off the season. Its not a big deal. Not a slap in the face if your team isnt selected, or a pat on the back if it is. Its just a game, that by the end of the year no1 will remember.

Mets vs Cardinals. That was the ESPN opening night last year. The game was in St. Louis.
RR 18 here you know who I am. I love what I started. Guzman ur right it is the only first game. But think about it for sec. This will be the first game in the AA division which will make history for the NYCMBL league to me that's important!I proud to be a part of this league. I only wish I was thirty again cuz i would look forward to play for the next 10 yrs in this league. Oh by the way since people are making things clear I would too. The Flava won last year because of the scheduling. It was the only time frame the league was able to get to play the third game and if you were there you would see for your self the players that were there were mostly the bench players. Trust me there should have been a fourth game. But No excuses here the best team won that day. Which is why we want another shot we deserve it we proved 80% of the league wrong last year. If you are one of those people who thought we were a fluke,then we look forward on playing against any of the doubters. Fava is on my hit list whether we win against them or lose for a fourth game straight. I gaurantee we won't lose a fourth straight. I was not there as well as other key players for that third game. But I will be there for that game. I hope the league let's us play the Flava they will not be dissappointed this is Hector Batista speaking. We picked up key players during the off season that wanted to play with us. I'm glad we did cuz we got rid of the cry babies on our team and brought in Men. Like my Manager and coach said"There is no Crying in Baseball" I'm out See you When I see you.

I think it should be two teams who were in the league last years. Why not be different and feature two teams from the A division. I vote the Bulls vs. the Express. Both are good teams who picked up exceptional players since last summer. I would love to see them vs each other on opening night.
I think the Ruff Ryders are the worst they gonna get smacked up again this year and I could see the Ruff Ryders being the Maddogs of this year .. All they do is cry and complain about why they lost last year .. Ya the worst and are so lucky ya made it that far last year .. I've seen ya off season pick ups and they not gonna give u a championship .. So I predict and I'm almost certain that the Ruff Ryders are wasting there time and we end in last place in there division .. And ur Coach is the worst too .. LOL
